FAQ's

Partipilo Custom Decks is here to assist you in making the right choice when searching for a professional deck contractor for your next outdoor living project.  This list of frequently asked questions below will help put your mind at ease knowing the experts at Partipilo Custom Decks are the right choice for your next home improvement project.

  • Who applies for the permit?

Partipilo Custom Decks is your one-stop shop when it comes to your next deck project.  We design all drawings and plans and submit them to your village or city for approval.  Once the permit is approved, we can schedule your project to begin.

  • We don't need a permit, right?

Wrong.  We will not construct any project, large or small, without the necessary permits.  Permits are designed to protect you as a homeowner, as well as our company.  Building without a permit is a risk to both homeowner and contractor which can result in fines and complete removal of any work that has been done.

  • Can I apply for the permit myself to save some money?

Unfortunately, no.  Partipilo Custom Decks has all the software and knowledge required to quickly and effectively produce the necessary engineered drawings for your new deck construction project.

  • Can we demo the existing deck ourselves?

If you want to!  We only ask that the entire structure be completely removed and all debris disposed of prior to construction.  In most cases, it is best just to let us handle the entire project from start to finish.

  • Who calls JULIE?

JULIE, which stands for "Joint Utility Locating Information for Excavators". is required whenever any excavation work is done,  In projects that require JULIE, Partipilo Custom Decks places the order.  JULIE does not locate privately-run electrical lines such as a line from a house to a garage or any underground plumbing such as buried downspout drainage pipe, PVC pipe from sump pumps or sprinkler system lines.

  • Are you insured?

Yes.  Partipilo Custom Decks carries all the necessary and required workers compensation, general liability and automobile insurances.

  • What are your normal work hours?

Our normal work hours are Monday-Friday between 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM.  We do not start any construction prior to 7:00 AM and we normally do not work weekends unless needed.

  • Do you work in rain or snow?

If the weather forecast shows rain or snow all day, we will most likely not be working.  If it's raining in the morning and hasn't stopped by 11:00 AM, we will consider the day a bust.

  • How long will my deck take to complete?

An average sized deck project will take roughly 1-2 weeks (5-10 working days) to complete depending on the size.  A larger deck project may take up to 3-4 weeks to complete.

  • Who schedules inspections?

The team at Partipilo Custom Decks will handle the scheduling and completion of all required building inspections.  Most projects require a footing, framing and final inspection.  Clients will be notified of all inspection results.

  • How does payment work?

A down payment is required to schedule your deck project.  The amount of the down payment will be listed on your Formal Proposal.  We require a down payment to get started and a final payment once the job is completed and the final inspection has passed.
